Hey, my guinea pig is about 2 years old nearly 3 and if i stroke her further down her body she jumps and runs around the hutch. If i stroke her any where she still runs away and twiches its really weird.
She also hates ANY! dry food i give her, ive tried everything and she just always eats the straw/hay that i give her for bedding. She also does not drink alot.
What is a matter with her? ANything serious?

If its a sow(female) she could be in season and reacting the way you are touching her, but it could be a number of different things, I would advice taking her to the vets BUT some vets do not know a great deal about Guinea Pigs.
I would offer her a more variety in her diet starting with fresh foods, they love, carrots, spring greens, cucumber, celery, apples, tomatoe, peppers. I would not bed her on straw either, its very sharp and could damage her eyes, hay is the best.
She is on her own? Guinea Pigs are herd animals and I have my piggies in small groups, if they will not tolorate anyone being around I keep them where there is alot of activity in the house so they can socialise with us.

This may be standard behavior for a younger animal, but here are some things to bear in mind: Cavies need things to chew and scratch. Popsicle/ice cream sticks that you boil and dry to kill any latent microbes work well and are not too expensive. I would never buy the ones that are dyed, even if they are processed for small animal use. Also, Try to get a smooth stone naturaly water worn from a stream bed. Malnutrition is always a suspect for any deviation in cavy behavior from the norm. Cavies need lots and lots of fresh Timothy hay; the more he or she gets, the happier your animal will be. A nice fresh mound big enough to make a nice den to be eaten through is the best! Unlike rats, cavies do not synthisize their own vitamin C, so give cauliflower, broccoli, and sparingly citrus. good variety is best; you need to research food sources, but most agree that for cavies, fresh guinea pig specific pellets (than also contain some hay) You need to train the animal to like you. The best way to do this is to have it associate handling with good things like getting a special treat. Develop a routine that ensures that your animal will associate your handling with mostily good things. It takes time and patience.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like mites or lice, especially if it appears that she is very sensitive to touch, scratches alot, and gets really cranky. Mites are pretty common for guinea pigs. Generally all guinea pigs have mites that lay dormant until something triggers an outbreak. Most Commonly, it could be bedding, hay, or certain type of veggies that can trigger mites. I have heard of an at home remedy using ivermectin, but I seriously suggest taking your piggie to the vet to be certain. Good Luck with your piggie.

Take to the vets to check shes not in pain, also try to get a dry food that is moister, that is is it has some oils added to it, a good independant pet shop will give you a small amount to try, also double check the water bottle is free flowing and is not blocked as you may think it not drinking but it may not be able to get any water from it bottle
hope this is of help

Sounds like there is something wrong with her, so that when you touch her it causes some discomfort. She may have an internal injury that a vet should look at.

If she won't eat dry food, don't worry, just give her plenty of fresh vegetables and some grass. She will get plenty of water from them as well as nutrients.

if you are at all worried then take her to a vet for a check up. Cavies love hay so keep plenty for her, as for dried food try different brands, mine will only it a specific brand. Also give her lots of wet food like cucumbers cherry tomato's melon etc this will get water into her ,Mine get all their fluids this way as they will not drink water as such and have not done so in the year and a bit i have had them

it's not serious you need to give her different food till she likes the one you give her.then stick to the food she likes.
maybe she runs away because something has changed.or you clean her out to mutch.they should be cleaned out once a week.
if she still runs away and wont eat then you will have to take her to the vet.
