I hate to say it, but I think a trained monkey could do more with the team. I'm not losing faith in my team, but they're not going to make the playoffs this year. I just want to see them make the playoffs, screw winning the Stanley Cup. It would be nice to see the Bruins put a winning team on the ice again.

I am a diehard Bruins fan and I have never had to work so hard to watch the games on TV. The Brad Stuart trade was simply ridiculous. Yes Ference and Kobasew r pretty solid players but u cant trade a player who u got for Joe Thornton who was the league MVP. I still like Peter Chiarelli more than that ding dong we had last here who even thought of trading Joe Thornton. At least we opened some cap space to maybe go after Chris Drury in the offseason because there is no way the Sabres will hold on to both of them because of the salary cap.

Being a fan of the B's, I wasn't really too sure about this trade in the beginning and I'm still not 100% comfortable with it. Stuart is a very good d-man but he tends to take stupid penalties i.e. hooking. He didn't seem to like Boston that much and wasn't interested in signing again with them. I was sad to see Primeau go. He really was a team guy but he didn't really do much pointwise. I'm very excited about Ference. I've heard great things about his playing style and am excited to see him on Tuesday playing against the Oilers (coincidence much?). However, Kobasew is still out for a couple weeks and I think they need someone now if they're still looking to snag that 8th seed. I wouldn't be surprised at all if another trade came along.
This whole season was all about the new faces in the front office and on the team. It really got my hopes up, but as usual, I'm a bit disappointed with how they've been turning out.

Stuart is a free agent next year, so trading him and locking up some young talent for a few years may turn out to be a good idea. Ference and Kobasew aren't all bad -- both have a good +/-, and both are young. The biggest downside is that we traded for Kobasew when he's out for three more weeks with an elbow injury.
And yes, it was Mike O'Connell who traded away Thornton (who was pretty much run out of town on a pole afterwards), and Peter Chiarelli who did this one. Pay attention.

So you know nothing about hockey? Andrew Ferrence is NOT a chump. If you actually watched him play, he is a solid defenceman. He may not put up 50-60 points, but he will be a plus in plus/minus and that's what you need your defence to be.
As for Chucky, he has his moments, and with the right team he could blossom (like Cory Stillman did after leaving Calgary, but he was a 'chump' here).

JT was great, Kobasew is a good player to get in return, and they'll be fine with Marco Sturm. Not a Bruins fan, but they'll get through it with Marco Sturm and Kobasew. Oh, and when you guys got a stable, consistent goalie. No offense, I'm a Sabres fan, but Tim Thomas and Toivonen aren't consistent, or a combination lkie Ryan Miller and Martin Biron.

Different GM's, but the Thornton debacle was one of the worst trades in franchise (maybe even league) history.

Kobasew/A.Ference should be alright.
Sturm and those two above are what B's fans have left from Thornton trade.
Easier being a Panthers fan today:)

Thornton sucked in Boston and wanted out. He never would have had an MVP season here. At least they got someting for him and Marco Sturm is not a bad player.
