Yes. Radar does not require headlights to operate properly. And the cops do not want to be seen. That's the whole point - to catch people speeding without being detected...

Radar is microwave radiation, just another frequency of energy, like radio waves. It works in the dark, light, cold, heat, even through light fog. To minimize your radar signature, there's little you can do. Smaller vehicles and those with lots of flat sharp angles reflect fewer radar waves back to the gun, but very little escapes Johnny law's gun. A lot of departments have gone to laser now which are even more accurate.

The best advice I can give you is to simply not speed. The minute or two you save isn't worth the ticket. Leave 5 minutes earlier, take your time, enjoy the ride and wave & smile at the officer.

If a police officer is conscious against the regulation or a contravention of the regulation is going to take place, then truthfully that officer would attempt to quit it, appropriate? If the cop knew that some scumbag replace into going to homicide or rob somebody, then the cop would be appropriate there on the scene and attempt to steer away from the crime. with ease sufficient, however, the cop knew your husband replace into going to tug out of the driveway without his seat belt on. So, the cop is going to enforce the regulation the place he's conscious that's being broken. so some distance as all your excuses circulate (your husband and daughter being ill, your having to paintings the following day, sitting in courtroom, no longer having sufficient money, blah blah blah blah blah), you and your husband would have prevented all those effects via no longer breaking the regulation interior the 1st place. that's greater much less costly and greater common to obey the regulation than to interrupt it. via the way, what if the robber have been given caught? What if the robber cried up a typhoon of excuses like he did, like he could no longer locate the money for the effective, he replace into out ill, the cop had it out for him, and that he's basically robbing human beings to place nutrition on the table and meth into his veins? would they drop the charges then? I specific wish no longer.

By all means. Radar is sound bouncing of objects. If he were to scan the radar across the landscape, it would all come back at zero mph, because it has a constant rate, but if the scan happened to catch someone in a car (he could have it trained on the road) it would come back differently giving him their speed.
