Everyone who is trying to answer this has little paices of good advice, for the most part. Whether or not you are overfeeding your baby depends on a number of different factors. How big is your baby? Is your baby in a growing spurt? While 8 ounces is generally too much for a 1month old baby, anywhere from 3 to 6 ounces is propabably good. How often do you feed your baby? If you only feed her every 8 hours, then she is probably not sleeping because she is starving. It is always best to get your baby on a schedule but if she eats on demand then you should stick with that for now and slowly work to stretch her mealtimes out. The best advice that I would give you is to rely on your own mother's intuition. You have already shown some of it in that you are concerned about her welfare. If your baby is generally happy, your doing ok.

Hi
You didn't say overall how much you baby takes in 24 hours but I'm sure you don't need to worry!
Babies often bring up a little milk after their feeds, particularly if they've got trapped wind, it's nothing to worry about unless we're talking projectile vomit in which case, see your GP.
As a general rule of thumb, a baby takes about 2.5 times it's weight in ounces. So a 10lb baby might take around 25 ounces over the 24 hours, but it's not an exact science and all babies are different.
My health visitor advised me not to 'sweat the numbers' afterall, if you were breastfeeding, you'd have no idea how much your little one was taking!
As to the sleep, it maybe that your little one just isn't very sleepy, but it's normal for a new baby to wake every 3 hours or so to feed, they rarely sleep longer than 4 hours at that age.
Again, remember that all babies are different but you could try to introduce a schedule for you both, which will help you to keep track of where you are with feeds and naps and so on.
I've put a few links below which I hope you'll find useful. Also, try to pop into your local baby clinic or see your health visitor, I'm sure you'll feel much more reassured getting advice from the pros!
Good luck!

yes mom you are defiantly over feeding...a one month olds belly is like the size of half your fist...i mean i don't even think i could sit down and drink 8 ounces at one and not feel sick or throw up...please cut it down to 3 ounces 4 is overdoing it....and she should be eating like every 2-3-4 hours with that...and the reason she is not sleeping and throwing up is because she is so overly full she feels really sick all the time...my son is 16 months and he just started eating 8 ounces with cereal...when my son was that age my doctor said i was overfeeding him just by giving him 4 ounces...and my son always had reflux and gas and spitting up...so believe me your baby will get full off of 3-4 ounces...but 8 that way to much...so cut back down to 3-4 ounces and watch your baby feel better...cause some babies will just eat and eat till they get sick...good luck mom

I would definitely try to slow down the feedings. Try to spread them out more, every 3-4 hours with a 5-6 hour span at night. When feeding, watch for signs of when the baby is done like looking away, pushing nipple out of mouth, etc. and don't feed more. If this continues or baby still acts hungry, I would call your doctor.

the baby will eat when she's hungry. if she doesn't want to eat, she won't. they need food, since they are growing. talk to the doctor. getting sick, like throwing up? or like having a fever? as for the sleep, she must sleep at some time during the day. that's the thing that babies do. sleep, eat, and poop. good luck.

If your breast feeding, feed on demand, but if you are feeding your baby formula it is every four hours, strictly! You can make your baby very sick if you feed her formula more often than this.

Slow down on the amount, but most importantly contact your physician, their nurse should be available for questions. If they aren't I would look at going to another Doctor.
