I wanted to know what do the women and children have to do to take good care of their hair...as I have heard that their hair is much more delicate and "fine"...than White people's straight or fine hair...what is the difference? Not trying to be rude...I really do want to know....thank you!

*sighs* long story! ok ok uh black pple's hair (I'm blk) is more brittle and we (blks) have different textures so some kids are tenderheaded (blk word for more sensitive within hair aspect) so, what i'd suggest is to ask her if she's tenderheaded, or better yet just find her a black hairdresser and let her go there. But if u wanna know how to comb it then u better go to the daddy's side and find out some info from the women in that familly. a lot of blacks use grease and gel which in actuality is damaging as well as perms/relaxers. it's really hard to say becasue mixed children often have that really weird hard to handle inbetween hair. can;t press it but you can''t just wet it either. go around, talk to a lot of the family members, get books and stuff. my hair is a really funny type it's neither coarse or fine and I'm not biracial, so it's often hard to tell I'd actually have to see a pic.

They have to be careful not to process it alot. The Dark and Lovely line of hair dyes makes products that are designed specifically for african Americans. Lots of vitamin E. OUr heair can tend to be a little courser and of course even curly and thick. Its funny if a white woman perms her hair it curls, if a black woman does it it straightens. LOL! We just have very different textures. SOmetimes to comb out the really tuight curls that can knot up, we use a hot comb. Its a thick medal comb that we put on the stove. It heats up we let it cool but just a little and then we run it throu the tight curls and they straighten out.

it a whole anther ball game is all I can say. it needs different products because of it's texture and needs. many woman with shorter or mid length hair rap/comb it around they head some what like a beehive look at night and place and scarf or cap on their to strain it naturally. Some types of hair have to use hotter irons or blow dries to get the same looks as people strait hair. I personally like it they seem to have more options of styles but I have fine waive hair. FYI there are other races that have same textures of hair as African American.

If its natural hair (no perm or relaxer), comb and brush it when its wet - not dry. Keep the scalp oiled, with natural oils, not "grease". I'm trying coconut oil now. Comb and brush in section when wet, starting with the bottom of the section....

Do not use a relaxer. That's why a lot of black women claim that they cant grow hair... it grows, but the chemicals are breaking it all off. My hair is natural, and it is to my mid back - bra length.
