I have often heard Oprah talking about when African American women get "ashy" skin....is it like when White women have this dry, dry skin..and the skin shows the dryness?

I have always wanted to know this....thank you!

It means you have very dry skin. Some baby oil could help ashy skin.

Yes exactly .... it has absolutely nothing to do with peeling and is not contained only in the areas of the elbows and knees etc...it can be anywhere on the body except the scalp...thats plain old dandruff

"ashy: referring to the appearance of dry skin, especially in winter"

people with darker skin who have dry skin it shows more often giving a dull and some time grey or white look to it. is why it is called ashy.if oil/lotion/ointment is applied it give healthily glow to the skin.
