Your question brings two sciences to mind...Chemistry and Physics; Chemistry deals with the the reactions between the atoms of substances such as whether a higher concentration af an acid would react faster than an acid of lower concentration with a substance...Physics deal with the reactions between materials and the effects of their reactions..for example the energy exerted by material on another material when they collide or the energy a material has at any point in time...
