some say that the best foundation for a lover type of relationship is friendship. after all the romance has died down, your friendship will keep that relationship alive. of course, a friend can become a lover. however, you should both take the risk of losing your friendship, or things not being the same as before if ever you guys do break up.
a lover becoming a friend is totally possible, but it usually depends on how you'll treat each other after the break up. the other party may need time to "heal the hurt", or may just not feel comfortable around the other. in that case, you'll need time.

A friend can become a lover but it is difficult to maintain the friendship. A lover can become a friend but only when the two are willing.

WITHOUT A DOUBT. i had a man that was both. I was the same for him. Too bad I did not realize how lucky I was that was 20 years ago and have yet found anyoone like him since. We still stay in touch. Been friends for 35 years and were lovers for 5 been apart for 17 years and saw him last week and the attraction is still. But we moved on and he married. He told me he still wishes he could have married me. What a mistake I made.
