For about five years my life has been like a whirlwind! I once played chess, then one day I lost my stradegy, I dont like to read much of anything that people write, Nothing really interest me. Its like im waiting for something, but in the meantime im dumbing down slowly! Is it a genetic disorder? I cant seen to focus, I am a good father but life seems to go by and I cant make any good choices about what im going to do????I thought anthropology was the study of fossils!

It doesn't mean you're dumb you're just having a re-think at your time in life. It's funny that you say in the meantime as there is a great book of that title written about just what you are describing here. You are doing what you are supposed to be doing that being a great father, but it seems to me you are lacking something stimulating in life (fatherly duties aside). Draw up a list of all the things you've always meant to look into and never got around to, all the best.

Maybe you are bored and need some variety, getting depressed even. If you know what a good choice is not, then you can decide whether a choice is good or not, maybe you aren't deciding before you choose? Maybe you should try learning something new, something you want or need to learn, that should interest you and exercise your brain a little, the more you exercise your brain, the healthier it gets(i.e. increased memory ability, quicker thinking, etc.). Do something different, don't wait for something different to come to you, make your opportunities.
Sometimes in working out, I start feeling bored, like I'm not getting anywhere. I will stop doing it alltogether if I don't force myself to do it sometimes, then I feel much better after doing it. I have a lot more energy, makes me want to something.
Hmmm. Maybe you should start working out?(if you don't already)

Some of what you're describing sounds like depression to me. I've struggled with it off and on for years and I don't know about how it affects others, but when I'm depressed it really messes with my thinking and my ability to process information. I can listen to simple directions and not be able to understand what to do. Also, the facts that nothing really interests you anymore, you can't seem to focus, and you FEEL like you make wrong decisions makes me think of depression as well. In any case, with the symptoms you describe, I think you should see your doctor and tell him what's going on.

I have had times in recent years when my memory was so bad that I sought professional help. Most often, it was because I had too many things on my plate.
Real men do see therapists. I hope you will take the time to discuss some of the pressures and stressors in your life with a professional counselor.
Good luck.

i dont know if you were. but atleast you are, now. dont keep asking yourself if you are dumb. tell yourself that you are not dumb, and perhaps it may even help if you told yourself repeatedly that you are normal, or slightly intelligent. it makes life easier. and it will give you the confidence to live better. chuck the chess crap. it is dead and gone. if you can strategise how you are going to prepare and eat your next meal, and if you succeed, that is success enough. from coming out of being dumb.

No! The only dumb people are lazy... That's what my brother used to say...

you need to know what you really want... then do it... follow through... gauge your improvement... check you own strengths and weaknesses... see if you need improvement...

nothing is impossible... ;-)

Are you under a lot of stress? Stress can really change your line of thinking and take you off focus.

By the way, it's spelt "strategy."
