Many people are lied to while they are growing up--told that Daddy's bottle of 'medicine' (booze) is for his health, etc.
In order to feel safe with the Adults in control over them, children override their own truth-detecting ability and will believe anything. Some people never outgrow this sort of vulnerability.
It is not related to IQ; you're right on there.
I don't know what this is called, but it is common among abused kids. It's similar to the Stockholm Syndrome.

I don't think anything creates it. It is a combination of personality and life experiences that makes a person too trusting. Perhaps, one has been too sheltered and have not had the opportunity to experience deceit, betrayal etc. It is through such life experiences that one overcomes guilibility.

Being sheltered is one. I was in a private elementary school, then began public. It make an impact in my life. Although, I liked the indivual teaching the private school gave, I wish that I'd been ahead socially. I feel that I'm still paying for at age 38. It's I'm "not black" enough. You should see some people. I work where it's a crime to crack a book. It's more important to know the streets.

Gullibility is both a facade and an inner attitude...

The reason someone would use gullibility is as a means of protecting oneself from anything meaningful by trying to elicit a shallow response...

Another reason is that a person would be gullible is being caught in a cycle of whom-can-I-trust that repeats itself over and over wanting to believe it without learning from it ...

Also by taking the victim stance except instead of Yes/but gimme something because I'm needy...

Gullibility can be a deceptive trap for trying to trick people into exposing themselves by the answers they give to someone they perceive is gullible...

Has someone recently said to you, "You are so gullible?" I remember someone long ago saying to me, "You are so naive." I became determined not to be so! Then I realised as I got older that I wished I were naive about some things. Be smart but know that it's ok to be a little "unknowledgable" about some things. All of us are at times a little gullible. No big deal. Laugh at yourself. Let the other person look like the *** for acting like the know it all.

Gullibility is not created. It is a natural part of being human.

That said, it is something most people outgrow after being made a fool of once too often.

well i can tell you that is what i am. I feel its like you are trusting and honest and you think everyone else is and you find out that is not the situation. People can be lying or saying something that is not even them but give you alot of bull and that is sad. I try to be honest and believe all that is told me to only be made fun of sad.

You are all gullible. It's a human thing. Who can resist a promised rose garden with lots of sunshine? Unfortunately looking directly at the sun blinds and burns. So do as I do. Look directly at the moon and the stars~~~
