i think that this is the land of the free, and it is your decision to own an american flag if you want to. there is no law saying every family has to have one. so that is up to you. but what would make you anti american is if your caught burnning an american flag or disrespecting the american flag by throwing it on the ground and stomping on it. or even hanging the american flag upside down. these things are not ok . so if you love your country. hang your flag high, and keep america clean.

No.

Strictly speaking, citizens outrank the flag.

This is one of the first things you learn in boot camp, the proper chain of command:

1) The people
2) The flag
3) The commander in chief
4) Civilian positions (dept of defense and dept of navy/army/airforce)
5) officer ranks
6) enlisted ranks

This is a strict chain of command, and there is a considerable amount of literature devoted to the proper care of the flag in any given position, time of day, etc.

Civilians alone are exempt from flag etiquette, but there are still recommendations for proper treatment.

Being anti-American has nothing to do with it. You have to hate your country to be anti-American, which is pretty much the definition.

For example, democrats and liberals (like William Arkin) who want us to lose in Iraq and spit on our soldiers are probably anti-American.
