Luckily it is dilute acid and so people and human beings are only moderately affected but the machinery and structurals see a lot of corrosion. And breathing the SO2 and NOX etc., creates a dilute acid in the nostrils and lungs etc., affecting the mucosa.

It kills plants that are more used to the basic or neutral soil. it burns some metals and destroys many paints. it causes lung diseases and makes the air really smelly.
