Well, seeing as a lot of small businesses are laying people off because of this recent increase, if it went to $15, a whole lot of people would be losing their jobs.
This, along with a lot of other things, is something the federal government should keep their noses out of. The feds step in to "fix" something, 9 times out of 10 they screw it up a whole lot more!

Where in the constitution does it say that the government will guarantee a minimum income to anyone????
Wages are paid to workers.....based on the workers skill and dedication to the job.
The government has no authority to demand that employers must give $ to workers based on a desire that workers can earn a specific minimum amount of $ .
The foundation of this country was to provide opportunity for all to pursue a career . There were no guarantees that everyone would succeed equally.
The constitution & bill of rights does not guarantee anyone a house, fuel, food, a job, etc Opportunity , desire, peserverence and willingness to learn skills produce individuals who either create businesses or work for employers. people differ and choose how hard they pursue a desire for a particular type of lifestyle.
A successful businessman or a highly skilled individual (physician, engineer, etc) has worked hard, over time, and MAY achieve a more comfortable lifestyle than others.
A parents job as a bricklayer does not mean that his kid must be a bricklayer. Education and training programs exist even for those with few resources . Those entering a work force generally earn less as they lack skills but EACH individual can achieve much more as they acquire skills and experience.
Minimum wage is a deceit as it discourages the production of a hsociety that is willing to work for their goals. The government instead chooses to rob/force employers to care for those in society that choose to exist off the backs or charity of others.
NO minimum wage should not be $15 ! it should not exist

No, because prices will adjust itself accordingly and we will still be where we left off. Wages should be determined by the market, not by a set minimum wage it is the minumim wage that is hurting our competitiveness around the world and indirectly leading to layoffs. For those that think they don't make enough money, either go to school and get a better job or start your own business.

Wake up America! Every time minimum wage issues come up the price of everything goes up. All companies consider cost in deciding price of goods and services. If labor cost increase, prices increase. It would lovely if every one could do minimum work and get maximum pay, but in the " real world" we are compensated for work, based on difficulty, education and skill required to the job.

Any successful business with a owner that is a decent human being already pays over minimum wage. The only people upset about the higher minimum wage are the Republicans which gets back to my decent human being theory.

I don't know about that, because there are pros and cons to everything. But, I do know that considering the cost of living today, I would have to say that $15 is the minimum amount that could honestly be considered a decent living wage. I know this because I know what it is like to try to make it on less than $13!!!!!

No, because I cannot afford to spend $40.00 for a Big Mac and fries.
If minimum wage goes up, so do costs for goods. People have to pass on the increase, otherwise, their businesses will fail.
Inflation will be at an all-time high.
SS benifits won't cover coffee for the month.
The market will crash, and we will be in another depression.

We should not have a minimum wage. If we do it should be 50 bucks an hour.

If it is $15/hour then 99% of all small businesses would go out of business. This would be a disaster to the US economy. We would all be on bread lines like in the 1930s.

No way, USA has to compete with China and India for jobs due to sell off USA by corporate America.
Minimum wage should be 30 cents an hour and no benefits. We need to take our cue from Walmart with their wage and insurance policies.
