Because if you're pregnant or nursing, whatever you put into your body, will also affect the baby. Maybe you were ok and such but not all people are like you or their body doesn't react well to the ink...rare, but it does happen. In addition, may not think so but getting a tattoo is actually quite stressful on the body and you wouldn't want any problems caused because your body goes into "high alert" because something's happening...if you're far enough along...traumatic events can trigger early labor. Not saying that getting a tattoo is traumatic...but to some, it's a pretty big ordeal.

i believe the reason why they say not to! is b/c they can get infected alot easier! and the colour would just bleed out! and supposivly the ink can harm your baby b/c it goes into your blood stream! im waiting til after my baby is born to have his name tatted on me! but i wanna do research to make sure i can get a tattoo and breastfeed! i think it would be fine but i rather be safe then sorry! good luck! and congrats

one reason would be risk for infectious disease. The industry is much better regulated now than it use to be, but there is still a possiability of infection with bacteria you yourself are colonated with. I do not know how toxic the dye they use is.
