I want to record a CD and dedicate it to someone. I've heard views from both sides, and I'd like to know if it's good or bad.

If you're going to be a jerk, don't even answer. Please, people, serious, insightful, thoughtful answers from both sides. (And please note, anyone can say "yes" or "no". Also give a reason).

What I meant was, I want to be in a band in a few years, and I wanted to dedicate our first CD to her. I think some of you took that the wrong way and thought I wanted to make a mix CD or something. Sorry for the vagueness.

We had not seen each other for over 2 months, because she was in another country waiting for the US to approve our petition for visa to enter this country so we could be married. We had to be apart on our first Christmas. So instead of just writing a note on a Christmas card, I recorded a CD of my talking over an hour to her over a background mix of a love song that was playing on the car radio while we were riding in back of her brother's car.

That was the last day I saw her for 1 1/2 years, because it was 2001 and our country was so afraid of letting in terrorists. I mixed and recorded the CD, sent it to her for Christmas. She was pleasantly surprised, and said she would save it forever. We were finally reunited in mid-2003, and we still have that CD. So if your s/o is romantic, go for it.

You can never dedicate too much to someone you love. As long as this person knows your feelings, and it wouldn't be a shock or surprise to them to find that you love them, then I think it would be wonderful to record this CD... ... ...

Sure you can. It would be a nice gesture and something thoughtful as oppsed to some tangible item that can be replaced. I say go for it.
