Purpose? To become a friend of God. Why all the money? It's the way we are raised in North America. Capitalistic society - consumer driven. If we didn't have grocery stores, restaurants, malls, fast food, drive through bank machines, smart cards... life would be much different without instant gratification; like standing in line for month's rations in Soviet Union or living in a hunting and gathering community like some present-day indigeneous groups, or surviving through selling our wares, or prostitution as we see rampant in SE Asia.

We have been socially conditioned to believe that money makes the world go round. Our lives are propelled by the use of money. The Western World is called "the Great Satan" by Moslems. Well, the Word says that "money IS the root of all evil", but money itself is not evil, just its improper use or the priority you give it (becomes an idol in your life). Even most mainstream churches are teaching "prosperity gospel" (the rest are tangled up in psychology or self-power). Our focus is on money because generally there is much debt (at government and personal levels) in this side of the world. Also the more we see, the more we want. Jesus tells us what our priority should be: "Seek ye the Kingdom first and all else shall be added unto you". He is our Provider. A hard concept to grasp in such a backwards world.

Figure what it is like to go on without a meal or a roof over our heads in the winter time staying updated and with a reasonable enough job. Also consider the inflation part, there is no such thing as a free ride even though the walking can be the most reliable source in getting around.

There may come a time when it's no longer possible to earn and you'll want to be ready for any hard times that come along so as not to have everything come to a screeching halt. So make what you can while you can .. and don't worry if people think you're being materialistic by saving for that rainy day.

Everyone has a different definition of "purpose." Mine doesn't include being focused on money all the time. I made a good enough wage to live well, and that's enough. I want time to enjoy myself, too, not just be working at every possible opportunity.

I though the same thing a few years back and decided to try to get by on just what I needed.

Life is a lot less hectic and a lot more rewarding.

Now I drive older cars. Spend more time hugging my kids and grand kids and a lot more time watching sunsets and deer around the pond.

I don't miss my old stressful job in the least.

Love and blessings Don

we are all striving very hard to earn a lot of money because we..human beings have the so-called "materiality prospect"..most of the people value money so much to the extent of valuing it more than God...of course,we have to deal with money matters because money matters but earning a money should not be our priority,,,because there are things which are more important than money.....
...what are you/we living for..???
is it to live a money-centered life???..is it to live an "easy-go-lucky life"?...
TEMPORARY...so it depends upon you on how you view life...
you may want to live a purpose-driven life..it really depends on us..just live your life to the fullest and you'll know what are you living for...
