Though he is the “first” mainstream African-American candidate who is actually “articulate, bright, clean (smells nice too, presumably) and a nice-looking guy”(according to Senator Joe Biden), he has little chance of becoming President.

However, I hope this 'little fact' doesn’t stop him from obtaining the Democrat nomination!

“It also helps that we believe every word Oprah says (and she fully endorses Obama)”
-I’m sorry; did you say that you live in the “bizarro alternative Universe”?

“We're an embarrassment to the world.”
-I trust that you made a ‘typo’ and meant to use the first-person, singular tense there.

“the democrats are in a very good position seeing how George Bush's approvial (sic) rates are extremely low.”
-Right, that’s why its a good thing that George Bush won’t be running in 2008!

“..he talks about his bad drug habits when he was a teen. This is brilliant because if he doesn't hide anything”
-Brilliant? So, the new rules of politics are: as long as I admit something before my opponent does, it’s all O.K.? It’s O.K. if I’m a terrorist, as long as I ‘admit’ it? That is nuts!

Jason D:
“Obama is a Catholic. India is predominately a Hindu nation. Hussein is a very common name.”
-Obama claims to be a Protestant Christian and attends the “United Church of Christ” in Chicago (hardly a Catholic church). “Hussein” is a Muslim name (not a Hindu name) given him by his Muslim father, who is a Kenyan national.

“He will not win because most people are uninformed like you.”
-Uninformed like who??

Yeah, you bet. First of all, the democrats are in a very good position seeing how George Bush's approvial rates are extremely low. The Republicans have not only lost stregnth in the government, but they have also lost the trust of many American's. I feel trust is a vital concern to the people and Obama comes off as an intelligent, clean cut, all around honest guy. There is currently an article on yahoo's main page, where he talks about his bad drug habits when he was a teen. This is brilliant because if he doesn't hide anything, his opponents will have nothing to pin on him. When debating whether he can win his own party, I believe he absolutely can. Hillary Clinton comes off as any other politician. She has no personality. Although people like her because she has a chance at being the first woman prez, Obama can be the first African American prez so that cancels each other out.

As much as I like him and his ideas, I am not sure that he has a chance at the nomination. I don't think Islam has anything to do with it, but more of that he is very young and somewhat inexperienced. I believe a Muslim has a better chance of being elected than the Mormon Republican, Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. Plus the ridiculous bias against black people that still exists within a lot of Americans
Obama describes himself as a Christian, and only actually spent a couple of years studying at a Muslim school.
His strength lies in his charisma, good ideas and relatability to the young people of America. He is of mixed race, is good looking and comes from divorced parents. However, people wishing to elect him to the get over a hurdle of history will be torn between the first black president and the first female president (Hillary Clinton)

If he were in almost any other country besides ours which is full of ignorant christian cults and racist closed minded bigots (by this I mean most of the population), he would stand a chance. The only thing that may be in his favour is that he is black (hear me out...). And since we Americans are so blind and ignorant, we think that what we see on TV reflects real life. And seeing that the US president on "24" is black and is THE ideal president, we would "assume" that Obama would be a good president also. It also helps that we believe every word Oprah says (and she fully endorses Obama). Lest we forget that she put Condoleeza Rice, who is a liability to this planet, on a high pedestal. The truth is, Obama would be the best man for the job (unless Al Gore steps up to the plate again) but to answer your question, It'll be a tight race but I don't have faith in our people to vote in the best person for the job. Look at our track record. We're an embarrassment to the world.

He has those stigmas as well as the fact that he is considered a rookie in politics. Unfortunately some also look at his race. And on top of that some people claim he's socialist (which is ridicules). He has a lot going against him. I would predict he'll run as V.P candidate. He'll probably run for presidential candidate again in the future (especially if he is sworn in as V.P. in 08').

As much as a snow ball in hell!!! It doesn't matter how he was raised, he is stilll black. He is highly intelligent and has all the right stuff, but Americans will not elect a black man to the highest office in the country. And it is a pity really!!!

Nope. He's a mere flash in the pan. Hillary won't be nominated either, but she, and her hubby are going to massacre Obama. I hope he's up for the slander they're going to open up on him. Any skeletons in his closet will soon be out!
