YOU DONT
The first ime they do it they might simply put a envolpe around the prongs of the meter. After that they will remove the meter and cut it off on the pole . You mess with that and you will wind up as a short story in the Darwin Awards.

This cat is looking for an answer, not the booming voice behind every liberal keyboard. I've got a buddy that works for the power company. He tells me people do it all the time, and that sometimes the power co. send people around to check on disconnected houses to make sure they are not turned back on. The guy that said they would know you turned it back on is wrong. Kind of like cable TV, they have no idea when you're hooked up and when you're not, unless you're using a digital box they can communicate with. If you're simply using your TV or an analog box to watch cable, they have zero incication that you're surfing for free. Of course I imagine there are penalties, but you're asking questions, unlike 90% of the "you're naughty!" crowd, I'll tell you that I was told, YEAH, IT'S POSSIBLE TO TURN THE METER UPSIDE DOWN AND GET YOUR POWER BACK ON......I just don't know if it's true or not.

Go ahead and find a way of turning it on. When you get arrested and fined $$$$$ and spend 90 days or more in jail you will be happy because the Jails have electricity.

Most places, like Las Vegas, it's a $300.00 fine now due to injuries created by people like you, who have turned on their power and the man coming around didn't know, plugged in the meter and it blew up on him. I was there when this happen once, the man spent the week in a hospital, it cost $900.00 to replace the meter and, the condo owner was fined.

I would get off the computer, get a job, pay the bill and get power back. Funny thing this capitalist society we live in... to get money you actually have to work for it... or meet someone prepared to pay you for breathing... but that's obviously out of the question because they shut your power off... hmmmm... time to try the "getting a job" idea...

You can buy a 100 foot outdoor extension cord, walk to your nearest neighbors home and ask if you can use a outside outlet until you can pay your electri bill, promise them you will use it sparingly and perhaps offer to pay them something AFTER you get your own bill paid. If they agree, you can feel good that you are not going to be arrested on theft and tampering charges and then it wouldn't matter if power company knew or not!

If by chance you still want to do this, even after all these people say you shouldn't do it, then will you let me know when and where you will do it. I would love to catch this on video, starting with this question, and going all the way to your jail time. It would be a great learning tape for others like you who think they don't have to pay their fair share.

You can't. Each metering box is monitored, they will know immediately for your box will display on the grid. I would suggest not messing with the power and just get it turned back on. If for some reason you accidently get hurt, it may not be a recoverable injury.

very dangerous and highly illeagal. look where the meter goes. remover the cover and you'll see 4 prongs or plugs. the meter jumps from the upper 2 down to the lower. the upper are HOT and will kill you! the lower are dead unless connected via a meter or your own HEAVY gauge wire. THAT's it jump from the upper down to the lower. Strieght down from one plug to the other. Now you have illeagal power if you havn't killed yourself
