The baby might be active because you are something that is not in accordance with him and your body. Close to delivery the baby’s movement slows down and they calm down. If you are feeling cramps, your spine is hurting or you start to retain water, then it might be time to go. Calm down, relax and do deep breathing.. And congratulations on your upcoming joy.

I'm 36 weeks along and i know how you feel.. Although I have heard that the baby settles down just before comming, I'm not sure about this. My first was induced. This pregnancy is my second but she's alot more active than my son was..
I wouldn't worry too much about being 40 minutes away from hospital. If it is your first pregnancy, I can understand your concern but the first is usually drawn out. My labour lasted 32 hours. They don't recommend you come in untill the contractions are either 3-4 minutes apart, or too painful to bear on your own, or your water breaks. all of which can take hours.
The average labour is 3-12 hours long, so you have plenty of time to get to the hospital. If you are still concerned, call your hospital and ask for their recomendations.

I HAVE HAD 4 BABIES!
~â«~ Usually, the baby will stop moving, or move very very little. Some women feel nauseated, some women have a little diareah, some women feel hot and sweaty one minute, and the next minute feel cold. No, not a fever, but feeling like a fever. Try to relax yourself.
~IF YOUR WATER BREAKS, GO RIGHT AWAY. IT COULD BE A GUSH OF WARM LIQUID, OR IT CAN BE A SMALL AMOUNT OF WARM LIQUID. THE NURSE WILL TEST A PAD (WEAR ONE TO THE HOSPITAL) TO SEE IF INDEED IT WAS YOUR WATER.
~You might lose some mucous. This is normal!
~Contractions can be felt across your lower abdomen like a tightening of the muscles, a hard strong tightening.
~You might feel pain in your lower back.
~You might feel contractions on the sides of your belly
When you are having pains, time them.( Did you go to a prenatal class or a La Mans class? ) When you start having a pain, look at the time. Most likely, if you have true labour, you wont remember to look at the time! If you cant look, then just see the time when the pain is over. Count the minutes between these pains. If the pains come and go for 20 minutes or longer, wait a little longer! IF the pain is 10 minutes or LESS.... Phone the hospital to say you are coming. You must go now!!
Try to relax. VERY VERY important to RELAX ~â«â¥â«~ Listen to soft music, breath in through your nose slow and deep.... exhale through your mouth slowly....breath from low inside your diaphram, not your chest..... repeat....
~Congratulations on your pregnancy! You will do great giving birth! Always relax when you feel overwhelmed... Very important to relax for your BABY! and for you as well!!
~â¥~Enjoy your precious bundle of cuddly warmth!~â¥~
:o)

well, I'm not the best expert on this, even though i've had two kids (mine came early, and quickly with little or no warning). If this is your first though, you can expect to be in labor for hours. You will feel some pain- mostly, if you're experiencing the early stage pains, it will feel more like the muscles in your stomach are contracting- tightening, etc. There may be a little pressure. Also, your water breaking is a very good sign that the baby is on its way. Don't worry too much though, the baby being active means that he or she is healthy. But, definitely give your doctor a call if you start to feel achy, because I've heard that some early labor pains feel like lower back pain. Good luck to you and your little one. My youngest is 1 now, and I wish I had a little baby again. I already miss it, so cherish each and every moment you have. It truly is magical.

If it is just nasuea don't concern your self just yet. Drink some water and a few crackers and see if that helps. If you are having contracions that are 5 minutes or less apart then yes go now. Also, a majority of women have a dull pain/pressure feeling in their lower bag when the beginning stages of labor start. If any thing call the OB and ask what he/she wants you to do. If you have been exposed to anything viral I would get ahold of the OB right away too. Being sick at that stage of your pregnancy is very hard on your body.

Nausea is often a sign of labor. Your best bet is to monitor your contractions. If they are more than every 10 minutes, you might want to call you maternity ward and see how busy they are and if you should come in. (Monitor for one hour) HOWEVER, if you're contractions are 5 minutes apart or less, you should start heading to the hospital now. In addition, you didn't mention if you've lost your mucus plug, if you've lost that, and you're having consistent contractions, then it's time to head to the hospital. One last thing, feeling really sick can be a sign of toxemia. I'd call your maternity ward and ask to speak to an on call nurse. Explain your symptoms, making sure to tell the nurse you feel ill and let them make the call.Take care!
