It's one of the few things the government is actually SUPPOSED to do. Like keep our borders secure.

Giving welfare to the oil companies, farm subsidies, selling "smog" credits, etc is just for fun.

The government is actually all of us. Our senators and and representatives are our spokespersons, but they represent US. We have voted in laws to protect ourselves, and appointed governing bodies to enforce those laws. So, if we want to be scarcastic, we might say that either they care by enforcing the laws, or they will be out of a job. More appropriately, people who already care seek those jobs out and passionately work for our safety.

It makes it look like their TRYING to help us and keep us safe. What it boils down to is the almighty dollar and the liberal need to be in control of our lives. Not believing that the American people are smart enough to think for ourselves. Just look in their eye's and you can see their lustful need for control. I know what you mean though. New York just passed a law, making it illegal to wear your ear phones while crossing a road. PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK!!! As if police don't have other types of crime to pursue. I think you deserve to get hit if your not smart enough to look both ways before crossing a street. Headphones or not.

It is not an issue of keeping everyone safe, it is keeping everyone producing, that is the goal.

We cant have productivity if people are out doing whatever they want to, especially hurting others.

So be thankful that uncle Sam is there, cuz it could be crazy uncle Joe in control!

you must be kidding, if that was so why did the courts rule in the LO ANGLES CASE where a man sued the county because a bunch of rioters had dragged him out of his truck and had him on the street stomping and beating on him and over 100 cops were watching it, civilians went in and saved him,( the courts ruled the police are not obligated to help you ) they are only there to enforce the law) and if they are to scared to do that then where does that leave the public??? me and you?? I don't suppose it is against the law for a bunch of thieves and scum to drag some one out of their vehicle and kill them , if the cops are afraid of getting hurt, have you not noticed when they come to serve a warrant they have 10 to 20 cops , and just like the 70 year old lady they shot over 35 times whe she threatened them with a butter knife, statistics show cops kill more people that the criminals do except domestic killings, they are becoming our worst enemy,

They don't care. They are busy trying to keep their elected positions. That means saying nice things and getting political contributions from interest groups. Notice that American Samoa's workers don't get this new Federal mininum wage? Wonder why?
