Why is it the case that something I bought for $50 when that was a lot of money for me is worth to me much more than the same thing when money is less of an issue? A good example is a good soccer ball. That was hard to have as a kid. Now it no longer is. I should have been very excited to own the nice soccer ball that I bought; I was not. Neither am I able to appreciate fancy sushi dinners the same way as I did previously. What has changed? The ball is still the same and so is the food.

Oh, you didn't know it's a universal law that we always want what we can't have but once we get it, the thrill is gone?

It shows an issue with your reactions, rather than to the things themselves.

You have a perception that what is hard to obtain is of value, while what is easy to obtain is not.

While it's true that some things are worth working for, it is also true that some things that don't cost a lot or aren't hard to obtain are worth while.

Calvin and Hobbes one day were making wishes. Calvin wished for a castle and gold, Hobbes wished for a peanut butter sandwitch. Calvin told Hobbes that was a bad wish. At lunch time, Hobbes said "but I can get a peanut butter sandwitch and have my wish."

What we obtain in life is not actually ours, death is proof of that.
Everything that we take from this life goes back into the system.
So I think your just coming to terms with the truth. A ball is a ball and sushi is just food. Its misleading to think that in the long term your better off with better things.

nothing beats good sushi id have to disagree! that being said as you get older things less excited you , birthdays an Christmas don't have the momentary spark they once had, it then becomes more of a family togetherness type thing as an example... if your lack of interest surprises you maybe its your brain telling you you need to move on to more meaningful things

You want something and would go to great lengths to get it... you want the high to get those things... but once you get it... poof... it is no longer in your list... you have reached you goal...

Want me to give you something worth more than that... It is very hard to get a life filled with dignity... with honor... with truth... with honesty... with integrity... with trust... with courage... with love... now if you wish to get those things in your life... I tell you it never stops... because once you want to have those, you need to do those things with every single person in your life... everyone as a matter of fact...

Hope you have fun... ;-)
