Why do muslims refuse to accept that during history,Islam was forced and imposed in invaded countries?

Most religions have a disgusting history of forcing themselves upon defeated peoples of a different faith.

But, today - advocates of every religion will deny the bloody past of his\her faith & claim that all other religions have chosen a path of forceful conversions except his\her own.

So, it is only natural that conservative Muslims will refuse to accept that Islam was partly (but not fully) forced upon lands they conquered.

This belief probably originates from a sense of strong faith in the purity of one's own religion.
It can be compared to a doting father refusing to accept his son\daughter has committed a crime, even when all evidence points to that direction.

Because their memories are selective.

They remember Muhammad back in 600-700 AD but conveniently forget that it was Muslim aggression that brought on the Christian Crusades. For some illogical reason Muslims think that they're doing the countries that they've invaded a favor, not taking into account that those countries didn't and still don't want to be Muslim.

A history student would always say that religions are imposed upon conquered people, whether it is Islam or Christianity. For the conquered people, it is their best way to adapt to their conqueror's culture or religion to survive. In the Holy Book of Koran, muslims are told to tolerate Christianity and treat the conquered people fairly. That is why a true muslim would not accept without offending his religious belief that he is imposing his belief to the conquered people, since tolerance of other beliefs is preached by the Holy Book.

This religious tolerance is evident in the conquered territories. Medieval Iberian peninsula (Spain) conquered by Berber Muslims form North Africa has native Christian and Jewish population. The conquerors never totally forced their religious beliefs on the native Iberian population. Not until the reconquest of the Kingdom of Leon did the Christian rulers of Leon and other principalities forced Roman Catholicism upon the muslim population and expelled the Jews.

The religious tolerance of Muslim territories are also evident in modern times, with the existence of Coptic Christian minority in a muslim majority Egypt, and the existence of Syrian Christian Churches in Muslim Syria and Iraq. These christian churches would exist if the Muslims in these countries adopt a policy of forced conversion like what the Spaniards did to Iberia during the period of Reconquest.

It was a great marketing ploy, convert or die. How do you think Europe became Christian? Did you forget about the Holy Roman Empire, the Crusades, the Conquistadors?

I'm sure there are many muslims that understand and accept this fact (and Christians with their religion), the problem you might be trying to address is in those who haven't yet rejected their faith by objectively viewing its history and the reasons behind their personal involvement in it.

Because it isn't true.
Jews and Christians were never forced to convert. They just suffered civil disabilities.
It may have been harder for Hindus - I don't know.
You should direct your animus against the invasions in the first place - the founding fathers of Islam were far more concerned to set up a world empire than convert everyone to Islam.

because no one likes to be associated with evil. its simple human nature. Do the christians accept the inquistion? absolutly not, they blame it on the catholics, even though there was no distinction at that time, so catholic was the only form of christianity. Christians don't like to accept that there were people who would slaughter and torture others if they weren't 'christian' enough. Christians don't like to accept the 'convert or die' method that has led countless millions to their doom.

of course not. you only hear about the Nazi Concentration camps.
do you ever hear a christian accept hitler as a christian? listen to his speeches, he said, and i quote "i believe that by defending myself against the jew, i am doing the work of the Lord."
it can be assumed that any christian wouldn't let Hitler sit in on THEIR bible study.
this is the point. no one likes to accept that their group (be it religious, or ethnic) could do anything wrong or 'evil'
but, you have to face it sooner or later. christians have killed just as many (if not more) than any other religion. Americans have slaughtered countless as well.
You hear of the nazi genocide, and shake your head in disgust, and yet don't know that at the same time, the russias were doing the exact same thing to their people, and slaughtered many more innocent lives. you don't hear about the women and children native americans slaughtered by american armies.
everyone has their dirty laundry, their proverable skeletons in the closet. the question becomes more, who is better at hiding the truth?

Salaams Why do u imagine of it in words of 'them' and 'us'? Can u supply one real party of any muslim attempting to impose their faith on everybody? Or can u supply any party of them lobbying the British parliament to make the country grow to be Muslim? thousands of diverse communities foyer Parliament to added their personal needs, and that i assure u none of them do in order to attempt to emphasize human beings of the united kingdom to grow to be a particular faith. It become precise that the comic strip become banned, it become deeply offensive to all Muslims. this style of element that become as offensive to Christians or Jews etc would both no longer were revealed or would were banned. For two reasons, first is that they are allowed to lie to non-Muslims. Second is that they are allowed to engage in virtually any unethical or abusive behavior toward non-Muslims. The second reason is simply a more general form of the first but it allows them to be abusive and then lie about it as long as they're doing it to non-Muslims. This pattern of behavior is generally defined as psychopathic.
