Because besides Dwight Howard they don't have any standout players.

Good question. I've wondered that too, seeing as how they've been losing to Atlanta (twice), Golden-State, ect.

This is what I can tell from each player's profile: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/orl/stats

I haven't followed the Magic too closely, but it seems like they are going through a stretch where inconsistency and injury are hurting their team. A big injury for the Magic was Trevor Ariza, who was the Magic's main energy player off the bench and could occasionally create for himself. Without Ariza, the Magic don't have anyone who gives them a spark in the second or third quarters off the bench; for the past 16 games without Ariza, the Magic are 4-12. It's not a solid explanation, but it seems to be the one that stands out the most. While Grant Hill's injury may seem significant, they already had a 2-8 record in the 10 games prior to his injury, so that can't be the case.

This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the inconsistencies of some developing players. The back-court is a jumble with Dooling (injured), Arroyo, and Nelson all clamoring for minutes at the point, each of whom have seen inconsistent play and inconsistent minutes. Having a consistent point guard is crucial to the survival of any team who doesn't have a low-post force (not a knock against Howard, just saying he doesn't create like Duncan or Garnett), because without a consistent pointguard nobody else on the team can expect when they're going to get their shots or how the offense is going to flow. You see this same situation in Seattle.

Also, keep in mind that this Magic team is quite young and inexperienced, so they may be just going through a bad stretch of basketball like any other developing team (eg: Cavs circa 2004-2005).

Grant Hill is injured. Arroyo should step up for Nelson, Turkoglu should be consistent in every game, Howard should be more consistent (remember few days ago, he scored 1 point..that started their loosing streak), Reddick should improved (play his game the way he played in Duke) Bogans and Dooling should be given more minutes. Oh Gosh, just 3 weeks ago, they are number 3 behind cleveland and detroit, now, they are nubmer 7 or 8, only 1/2 game away from Miami, and Miami is smoking hot now that Shaq is healthy. Hope they will start winning again, I mean real winning streak, say 5-6 games and not the other way around.

Everyone knows all the Magic in Orlando is actually Imaginering.

Well, for one they are relying on the likes of Carlos "I dribble more than I walk" Arroyo. Dwight Howard is amazing, but i'm not seeing the greatness I saw in him at the beginning of the year, it seems he is slacking as of late. Grant Hill being injured is a huge loss for the Magic, but someone HAS to step up! The Eastern conference is WEAK! There is no reason for them to be doing as poorly as they have been lately.

wow, lots of ignorant people answering. but i think orlando is slipping a little because grant hill is hurt. grant hill was really good for them when he was healthy and he makes a big difference. but i dont worry about the magic, they are in good hands and have a bright future with dwight howard.

They dont play team defense. offense is ok, but no consistent go-to-guy (not HIll, not D Howard). team falls apart in tough grind it out close games. they would get the last spot though, since other teams are much worse (Nets).
