OK here goes.
It's in our nature to solve problems and confront situations that we approach every day. We aren't designed to avoid problems and we aren't taught to ignore them either. That's why when we're told to grow up, we're being told to deal with whatever just hit the fan and made a mess all over the place.
So how do we face obstacles? Well first, we observe our surroundings and figure out what's wrong. If I'm at my house and I have to get to work, I look at the clock to see how much time I have, check my closest to see if I have something to wear, and check the gas tank in my car to see if I have to stop at a gas station. Next, we prepare, so I would take a shower, get dressed, have some breakfast, and start the car. Finally, we just do it. I would drive over and get to work.
Sometimes, we do need an extra boost to get a job done. Maybe we're tired or maybe we don't have what we need to overcome the obstacle. That's when we call friends to help us out, so here, if I get a flat tyre coming home from work, I call up a friend to pick me up and drive me home (after the tow truck comes to bring my car to the garage or body shop). Friends are like bridges when it comes to facing obstacles, they let you cross where you wouldn't be able to on your own.
There ya go.
