The Danny Thomas Show. Andy Taylor was shown as a country bumpkin sherrif who was also the Justice of the Peace, Fire Chief, and just about every other official position in the town.

RFD is a postal abbreviation for Rural Free Delivery. RFD is a service by which the US Post Office delivers mail directly to the homes of rural citizens. Before RFD, they would have to pick up their mail at the nearest US Post Office.

Andy Griffith also made a movie adaptation of "No Time for Sergeants," about a bumpkin recruit into the army. Later, Gomer Pyle from the Andy Griffith Show was drafted into the army and became a second TV version of the story. The original "No Time for Sergeants" series was a huge flop.
