punched hole in wall! help?

Fixing a hole in drywall is easy, but I type to slow too write it all up here. It involves cutting a square out of the wall , and a piece to match that, only slightly smaller. Screw two pieces of 1x4 behind the hole, leaving half exposed. Then screw on the repair piece and spackle the cut line. Go to Home Depot and ask.

You can fix it, but you'll never be able to get it patched and painted before you mom comes home. What you need to do it cut some cardboard and glue it to the backside of the hole to seal the hole up. Then you can start layering on spackle to fill the hole. But note, you need to add the spackle after the cardboard has set to the wall, and you will need to add it in thin layers for best results, maybe 1/4" at a time. Allow the compound to dry between coats per manufactirer's recommendations. When you have the hole filled, sand the joint compound smooth, and add more compound to fill any low spots. Let it all sit over night, then apply you wall paint (hopefully you have some left over paint that matches the wall color).
So, you might as well start working on the story your going to tell your mom about the hole, or find a nice picture you can hang over the hole.

Depending on how big the hole is, you can buy a wall patch or use packing tape to cover the hole and then use some hole filler (like spakling depending on what kind of walls you have), smooth it out with a puddy knife and then paint over it. If you don't have the right color paint, you may have a problem. Good Luck!

for a fist size hole -- fill in with wadded up newspapers, cover with spackle, sand smooth, and paint over. If your walls are textured, which they probably are, get a spray texture cover they usually come with 3 different nozels. good luck
