The richest person in the world would most likely be Bill Gates, the inventor of Microsoft. He's been on the top of the list for every magazine for 2 years now.

Bill Gates has been at the top of Forbes magazine's richest people list for a number of years now; however, there is speculation that actually the founder of IKEA has more or as much money.
Also, there is some ruler/sheik dude of some Middle Eastern country who, if you counted his whole country's wealth as his, he would definitely richer than Gates. Sorry, I don't remember his name or name of his country.
