Norton is a resource hog.Try zone alarms free version. It will catch more then Norton and less demanding along with spybot. There is no substituting a good anti virus with a free one.Norton should definitely be free.

Norton Internet Security is a Very good software.

But it is Resource hungry. So if you are running it on a slow system you might feel that it has slowed down the system even more.

And the second problem with Norton is when it is installed for the first few days it will take most of your computers banwdith for updating itself.

And the self learning engine would take lot of your processing power for learning your different browser habits.

If you update your Antivirus Program and Definitions regularly and have a fast PC. I would definitely recommend it.

One more problem is its not a easy product to configure.

You need to have some computer knowledge to use it effectively.

If you still need further clarifications please get back to me.

NIS is a resource hog. Their antivirus is not too bad but you can get a comparable one for free like Avast and AVG. So why spend money. If you have a very fast and modern PC, Norton will probably not affect your PC's performance. However, if you have an old or low-quality PC you will notice the slowdown. Having a dual core PC, 1 to 2 GB of memory, discrete (not on-board) video card (with high video memory, 256mb), & 80 GB of hard drive will probably not be affected by Norton.

I've been with network security for awhile and I never recommend Norton. Mainly b/c Norton is a computer resource junkie. Once you start it, it hogs your processing speed.

If your computer isn't working at Mach 3 to began with then you can really tell the difference.

Recommendation: Kick Norton and pick up ZoneAlarm, TrendMicro, McAfee, or some other accredited vendor.

I recommend :
AVG anti-virus Free edition
SpywareBlaster
Spybot S&D

Those Programs above updated regularly will keep you pretty safe

Norton will do that....I stopped using it because it slowed my laptop down something awful, especially on boot up. I use McAfee now....it's quick and troublefree.
