Well it depends on how you are connected to the internet,

Dial up is usualy 56k.

DSL and Cable anywhere from 256k to 5M.

By using the above link u can get u r connection speed approx.

The download speed varies from server to server from which u download files.U can use softwares like "bandwidth meter" to know u r download speed!!!

When you download, you should get a window to run or save. In either case, it should show you the speed at which it is transferring.

Go to www.download.com and download du meter.

This software would give you real time upload and download speeds.

It will also have Daily, weekly and monthly data transfer reports.
