a clock or sundial because time is the one truth that needs to exist before any other truths can be made.
I can explain how brief our time is on earth and how one's decisions affects their future. A conscious awareness of time helps us deal with emotions, handle problems patiently, and live and spend our time on earth wisely.

The only item that I could possibly imagine would represent my "truth" would be the cross that Jesus died on. I would hope that someone would understand from this one symbol that Jesus was God's Son, and that God sacrificed his only son so that we could have eternal life. Unfortunately that symbol may not be enough, but it there is a saying. "How much does God love you?", "God loves you this much..." and show that symbol. That's how much God loves you. He loves his Son more than he loves you, but he still put his son on the Cross to show you his love for you, and to show that he doesn't want you to perish in Hell. That's how much God loves you. But you have to accept his gift, and understand what that gift is, and the Bible shows you what that gift is all about, and shows great mysteries of God for those who really desire to know God. God is there waiting for you, but you have to want to know God.

I'd use ice. It would convey two important messages: 1. Chill. 2. Like ice melts with heat, many cold hearts can be melted with enough heat (love).
