First of all, the eyes are not slanted, that is a narrow view(no pun intended)by rather the eye-lids are thicker, commonly referred to as an epicanthic fold. This is due to the influences of mixed ethnicity, Eastern European mixed with Asian, producing what was once commonly referred to as Huns.

They could be a mixture of both Slavic and non-Slavic people (tribes from the east) -- or there could have been a lot of intermarriage going on in Russia after the conquest of the east.

When you use the term "Russian" are you referring to the country, Russia, or the former Soviet Union?
Why do you think "a lot" of Russians have "slanted eyes"? Where did you get your information?

some russians and ukranians even romanians, and khazakistan have slanted eyes cause the mongols invasion in the 13th century.

They could be old Russian from back 1,000 years ago. Over the centuries intermarried with a wide range of people, like the Horde (mongolians), Chinese, Eastern Europeans, Baltic, Caucasian, etc. Basically, a big melting pot of people.

Russia is huge and includes parts of Asia. Are you sure they said their heritage or nationality? Asian-Americans are full Americans.

because they are slavic...Icelanders, Dutch, Italians a lot of different nationalities have 'slanted' eyes...you might try looking at people as people and not a bunch of slanted eyes...

We're of Polish descent, and I'm blonde/blue eyed, but my sis is dark haired, dark-skinned, brown-eyed. As kids, I would tell her that she was evidence of the mongol hordes sweeping through poland raping and pillaging. She didn't like that much, but I believe it explains your question some.
