I have been referring to it as the Hydra Effect. From the mythological creature, where if one of its heads were to be cut off, two more heads would grow out from the wound. The Hydra Effect came into play as soon as Saddam was displaced from power. It has become more recognizable since Saddams capture, trial, and conviction. That old Hydra is looking back at us with teeth bared and how many heads, now?

Maybe Bush should have taken a few mythology classes in school rather than history. Probably would have been a better student, with better grades and still could have been a cheerleader, to boot.

Why should I be ashamed of saying no to the idea of going to war in Iraq? A vast majority do not realize that the evidence also condemned another country, insomuch as it was their manufactured WMD's weapons delivery platforms that were presented to the world. We did not go to war on them for supplying Iraq. All of the images and video in the lead-up to the war, told another story, other than the words we heard.

I refuse too, to condemn anyone of our troops for his/her opinion as to why we are there. Our military is regulated by civilian politicians. Our troops could have said no, lets invade Pitcairn Islands instead, they still would have ended up in Iraq. For as much authority as our troops carry as policy makers.

One of the biggest problems I see in Iraq is that the military is being downsized at command and control, while fighting the war. Changing the recognized chains of command. This is like trying to rewire a car that is running down the highway.

I wish SOMEBODY (and that includes Bush) would define winning, so we can do it and go home. If it is deposing Sadam, we did that. Searching for WMD, we did that. Installing a stable government in Iraq? Lot's of freaking luck.

In any case, what set of circumstances constitute a 'win'? This is the Middle East we are talking about. Good luck on the 'peace' part.

Iraq is in exactly the shape that Bush and the NeoCons want it to be in...it's called "rule through chaos" and it gives them an excuse to keep an American military presence in the region (besides making sure the oil flows). We are now getting much more oil out of Iraq than before we invaded so Bush would say we are winning. Stay tuned they are going to try to execute the same plan in Iran...giving them absolute control over Persian gulf oil.

I am feel more sadness and pitiness for those soldiers, military personnels and reporters stationed there and unable to return these few years. I feel for their loved ones.

The chance of winning this terrorist war is not easy and it is going to take a long time. I just hope that they will get all military men out as soon as possible.

Honestly I am not ashamed. If we had left, someone else would have had to pick up our mess, THEN I would feel ashamed. like a kid who craps in his pants. he isnt ashamed because its natural, he is ashamed because mommy has to clean it out of his pants when hes the one who did the deed.

Though I am completely liberal, I have to stand and say we finish what we started, Id rather have us there, trying to fix the problem and failing, then some communists or hell RUSSIA in their leading with iron fists.

I'm more angry at Bush than ashamed. I'm also more ashamed that Bush is the our president who's causing this failing war.

Ashamed of our brave troops & coalition forces ? Never .
I'm ashamed of liberal democrats and their senators who wage a war on the war on terror - in order to give the insurgents a morale boost and to break our troops spirit . They'll never break our troops - but it won't stop them from trying .

No. The battle there is of the most difficult sort, and cannot be won easily or cheaply. But losing would be far more expensive in the long run.
