I've heard many traits described as part of the masculine ideal: integrity and honor, protecting those who are weaker than you, stoicism, etc. I'm curious what those here (men AND women) consider to be the ideal for women. Do you think your own thoughts on the subject conflict with traditional or current popular views? I'm curious to hear some thoughts.

Also, please spare me any trite "anything-and-everything" answers. Not only is it boring, but it's also banal and meaningless. Thanks in advance.

Strong, compassionate and nurturing.

My own definition of femininity would also include sexy, though culturally that may be looked at as a shallow and sexist opinion. However, My definition sexy encompasses everything that I think makes a woman feminine and beautiful - strength, intelligence, compassion, Independence, sensuality, tenderness.

The feminine ideal varies from person to peron.

For me, it is embodied in Ariel, the Little mermaid, not only in a physical sense, but an emotional and spiritual sense as well.

I think that the feminine ideal is a woman who is both beautiful and smart - and has many gifts to make her feel good about herself and affirm her man at the same time|

But she is willing to let her man be the leader in the relationship - and as that man leads her, he has the utmost respect for her, always listening to her feedback in the process|

MY ideal? Strong, caring, nurturing, intelligent, well-rounded, brave. Does it conflict with current popular views? If one were to believe the media, one only needs to be beautiful to be the "ideal," nothing else matters.

well we are all different you know.......I feel I can stand up to whatever challenge I have to provide and protect me and mine.........but,....I prefer to stand behind my man rubbing his shoulders while he fights my battles .....And I really don't care if it fits with anyone elses views.......current enough to do what I need to do and traditional enough treat my man like a man...
