Plus the ticket is OLD - he got it back in Oct 06 - just wasn't able to pay it cause he works out of town alot and couldn't get off work - and when he did get off work we didn't have the money
But now we do but he's still out of town - He wants to take care of this ASAP - but the only way is if I can go down there and pay it for him - I know it will be more than it intially was - but even if they do take payment from me - will there still be a possible warrant for him - could there be one now ?? Not sure how all of this works - niether one of us has had a ticket before now
Thanks

He can pay it over the phone by using a credit card. Give him the number of the court clerk's office and have him call. All they want is the money.

You should be able to pay it for him. You should either go down there or call to check and see. I don't think that they really care who pays, just as long as it gets paid. Most banks are like that with deposits. I suggest actually going down there and asking the questions because they probably won't tell you too much about any warrants out. I'm not sure about other states, but in Virginia you can look up online court information if it is in the General District or the Circuit Courts.

There should not be a problem with that. Let them know the circumstances though, okay? Just tell them that he wanted this ticket paid but hasn't been back in town long enough to come in to take care of it. They will appreciate your candor and take the payment. Since there were no prior tickets there shouldn't be a problem. They MIGHT, however, have put late fees on it, so be sure you have enough to cover all of it. Depending on the municipality, they sometimes do that.

I am not so sure about these other answers. Paying a ticket off seems simple enough when it is actually your ticket because they automatically assume you plead guilty to the offense. You may have to have something in writing and notarized and tell the judge that you are his legal representative since you are not married. Contact your county district attorneys office or your county magistrate for details on how to proceed. No they don't issue warrants for unpaid tickets.

It all depends on the court. There is a phone number on the ticket. Call them and explain everything to them and they will be able to give you all the details.
