Animals need their sense of hearing to protect them from harm...especially horses. On windy days they seem very anxious due to the fact that the wind absorbs any sounds they may need to be cautious of and this is why such animals like deer or horses are constantly moving their ears to listen. When they cannot make out clear noises , they seem very nervous and it is hard to handle them because they are on alert.

Animals have a much higher developed sense of changes in air pressure than we do, and that can lead to a lot of behavioral upsets on windy and stormy days. This helps animals to seek shelter before severe weather hits. Have a good night.

Animals can sense storms, wind is a sigh of a storm (sometimes)
Animals dont want to be around when there is a storm, or bad weather so they may act up a little bit, it is not a big deal .

Ohhhh yes! My horse goes absolutely nuts on windy days!! Its hard to even walk him to the arena to lunge him, let alone ride him. It scares them, I think. My dog enjoys windy days, though.

My dog will bark, bark, bark at the wind and then go on a spastic running fit. He will only stop to bark at the wind some more until he exhusts himself.
