I was never warned of this, so I am assuming its not so normal...what could it be?

Change positions, sometimes the baby sits on a nerve just right, so that you don't feel things. I used to go numb a little further south! The doctor told me that she had her foot sitting on my nerve, and that is what caused it. She would do this often whenever I stood for long periods of time, like when i was washing dishes, or making large quantities of copies at the office! I think she managed to put her foot there because it was her most comfortable position. Anytime you are in doubt, you can call your doctor! That is why they make the big bucks, because you call them at all hours with odd questions etc.. Better safe than sorry!!!!

I'm fairly sure this is normal at this stage. :) Your stomach is being stretched, so the nerves aren't working so well. Toward the end of the pregnancy women do experience numbness.

It's completely normal. Your skin is stretching and there are areas that just don't have good nerve coverage so sensation is decreased in those areas. Your back naturally has fewer nerves so there are areas there with decreased sensation, you just don't notice it so much because it's on your back.

The baby is more than likely on a nerve. But if you are worried about it call your doc. Hope that helps and good luck!

I've never heard of it, but I'm sure it's nothing to get excited over.
However, the next time you see your doctor I would tell him/her about it.
