I woulda taken Chris Bosh, cause they always needed a big guy to play true Center, and even with Ben and Rasheed Wallace none of em were true centers even though both great rebounders and solid duo of block shot players it woulda helped more havin a nother big man, a lil taller young and more talented than Darko, and if they woulda drafted wade he woulda gotten no playing time under Larry Brown with Billups and Rip at guard, so he wouldn't have been where he is today, and they already had Prince at SF who is real young so no need for Melo at the time being

If bosh worked out there would be no Rasheed
Wallace was traded for midseason because the pistons needed more frontcourt help because darko was useless
It would have to be Bosh as the best pick to fill that need and he would have given them some low post scoring
Best player is wade but for him to play billups or hamilton has to sit
With Anthony, prince has to sit down and he's their best perimeter defender
the guy who fills the needs best is Bosh but if that was the pick the pistons don't trade for Sheed and don't win the title (atleast that year, would have been a lot stronger right now)

Drafting Darko was a huge mistake, and everyone knew it four years ago. I think that Anthony, Wade, and Bosh would all have been better fits. It makes it even worse considering that Anthony and Wade are bona fide superstars now, and Wade has proven that he can carry a team on his back to a championship. I think that they would have beat the Pistons in '05 had Wade not been injured. Drafting Milicic now looks almost as bad as Portland picking Sam Bowie over Jordan in 1984.

Probably Melo over Darko, but Larry Brown hates to use rookies anyway. It may have stunted their development, and any of those guys could have ended up in the same boat. Darko has shown some flashes of brilliance down in Orlando, but he's not exactly dominating. He's got average of 8 pts and about 5 rebounds a game. Whew - I'd have taken Bosh though.

I don't know what the Pistons were thinking with that pick. They should fire their scout.
Any of the other 10 players choosen after him would've been a better pick. At the time they needed a post player and that's why they took Darko but I don't know why they didn't take Chris Bosh. That's my answer: Chris Bosh.

Many communities of their position would have taken Darko at #2. lately, with overseas opportunities and youthful gamers, the draft is increasingly more beneficial a crap shoot; each and every twelve months even as human beings say the draft is weak, that is not in any respect extremely precise. There are miraculous gamers purely about each and every twelve months, it purely will grow to be further and extra tricky to inform which gamers they're. because it seems, efficient, Darko become the incorrect p.c.. after all. yet that is with the great thing about hindsight. In my ideas, the real mistakes Detroit made become preserving that p.c.. and drafting a rookie that they knew wasn't going to get playing time on that team for years yet to come back. through the time Darko's rookie settlement become winding down, they were going to ought to come to a decision no matter if to provide him a large settlement, and had no theory in any respect what he would do hostile to NBA competition. Taking Darko in certain turned right into a mistake, yet understanding that ought to have required predicting the destiny. yet taking a rookie, sitting him on the bench for decades, then being compelled to commerce him with out having any theory what you drafted is this style of mistake that you ought to work out coming and avert. because it stands now, i'm nonetheless no longer efficient we've any theory how solid Darko is. secure to say he isn't any longer going to be as solid as Melo, Bosh, or Wade, yet i imagine he's already more beneficial efficient than maximum persons comprehend, and likely nonetheless has room to enhance provided that he's in trouble-free words now starting off to get the wide-spread play time that those different adult males were given years in the past.

Wade, because he's the most complete player and he's the best guy to build the team around.
But other than wade, I'll say Bosh because he would provide post offense alongside with rasheed.

Bosh would have been the best fit, since Detroit's weak spot is down low.
