No, I do not think the more expensive brands are any better. You have to find the makeup that works best on your face. I would also suggest that you look at the ingredients that are in different makeups. I have listed some sites under resources. I use Affordable Mineral makeup and my daughters use Mineral Girlz. You are going to be shocked to see what some of the makeups contain. Many of them clog your pores, dry out your skin, and cause breakouts. The many of the expensive ones and the cheap ones are really not good for your skin.

Expensive makeup doesn't guarantee better quality. The off the shelves products are sometimes better that those expensive ones. For instance, Maybelline and L'oreal mascaras are way better than those of Clinique or Mac.
Some buy them only for their high end branding as they are brand-conscious people. But if you shop products for quality and efficiency then, you might as well buy for those off-the-shelves items. If you being too wary of their quality, then read the ingredients or labels carefully before purchasing any items.
Some tips here; Buy pressed powders, foundations, loose powder, blusher that are ''NON-COMODEGENIC''. This means these products do not clog your pores.
Products that say ''OIL-FREE'' are very recommendable for users with oily skin or combination skin.
Look for products that has ''NON-ALLERGENIC'' labels as these products are most likely not going cause you any allergy or side effects.
You may also want to Look for products that contain VITAMIN C OR VITAMIN E OR VITAMIN A. Thse vitamins are your skin's bestfriend. Vitamin C aids in skin whitening, giving your skin a good boost and also helps in healing blemishes' marks.
ZA brand has alot of products as such.
It is also advisable to buy cosmetic products(eg foundation or lipbalms/glosses) with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) if you do not practise wearing sunblocks.SPF 15 is good enough.
When buying, eye makeup like eye-liner ,mascaras or eye shadows,be sure to look for the ones that have '' SAFE FOR CONTACT LENS WEARERS'' labels.
If you want to go a notch higher which means you do not mind splurging on make up items, then you can buy products from BIOTHERM or Averine . These brands may be a little too splurging for your pockets but they have quality products.
BIOTHERM has makeup items that don't only beautify you but treat and pamper your skin. It's their spa line cosmetics.
Averine products are of natural ingredients.
Natural ingredients aren't harsh on our delicate skin.
Well,i really hope my suggestions help. =)

rimmel, maybelline, and max factor are all affordable but not a bad quality... if you're buying products you're not going to use a lot, like an eyeshadow to coordinate with a top or something, there's no sense in paying out the *** for something from mac or sephora...
i had a clinique eyeshadow in a light pink-ish shade that a friend gave me, and i had a similar shade from covergirl that showed up a little more vibrant and lasted just as long

Probably ! Signature Club A Jet Tech Wet Set and Serious Skin Care's Bella Rosa, both sold on HSN are great. However, I have been satisfied with L'Oreal's True Match or Maybelline's Dream Matte. I say whatever works best for you should be the determining factor, in spite of the price. Good luck !

I was reading a magazine and it said that the only make-up that you should not mind spending alot of money on is your foundation because if you get a low quality/cheap foundation it could clog your pores and make your skin worse. your skin needs to breath, and if your skin can not breath thats when it gets irritated. i personally use Bare Escentuals, and love it. My skin got clearer and i can't feel it. i used to use cover girl powder and foundation, but in my humid city it just kept slipping off my face and i would break out bad, especially in the summer. so i tried it and will never go back....ok sorry to sound like an infomercial but its the truth. its costs alot but it lasts a long time too.
~Hope this helps

I think the extra money is worth the extra quality you get from a brand like MAC or Bobbi Brown. Cheap makeup causes problems like breakouts.

I don't think the more expensive brands are better, but quality does matter and the best for your skin are those with idebenone and are mineral based, such as True Cosmetics. Oxygen brand and Jane Iredale are also much better. Mineral makeup doesn't clog your pores and will keep your skin healthier.

Mary Kay is the best, but I bought some Cover Girl today (emergency purchase) and love it. I tried Estee Lauder once and couldn't get it to stay on - just kept sliding down my face!!

A cosmetic is expensive because only when its quality worth it,low brands mostly causes allergies and other problems to your skin, they have short -term effects well expensive brands have long term benefits and they dont leave negative effects on skin, better go for expensive as u have to buy them once and nothing is much more expensive than your skin, which is priceless
