Say, like a nintendo or something. My monitor has a 1/8" jack sound input and a serial port for video. Is there any way to convert those a/v red yellow & black cables to serial port, or is that not even possible?

1. To use the monitor as a tv (direct connection) you want a "VGA Adapter".

2. To use a software window to display the connection, you want a "TV Tuner"

I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 9800 graphics card for my desktop PC, and it comes with cables and inputs that allow you to connect RCA or RF inputs to your computer, and also software to make your PC act like a TV. Try getting one of those, and there are also cheaper versions of those graphics cards just to pick up television signals on your computer monitor. Look up "TV tuner PCI cards". Be warned though, since the resolutions are different, your videogames might not look as great on your computer monitor, and if your computer is running a bunch of processes at the same time you're playing, the image might lag.

An RCA/VGA cable is available at any Radio Shack.
The sound connectors are the same & just require a cable.
