People keep asking why there isn't a white history month. Well perhaps that's because white history is taught, celebrated, and praised every day. As an African American I can't tell you how many papers I have had to write on white writers, poets, and historians over my collegiate career. Its refreshing to study the accomplishments of my ancestors as well as those of other minorites ONE month out of the year. If black history as well as other minority histories were taught in conjunction with (white) history then there wouldn't be a need for a black history month. Do you now understand why there isn't a WHM?. White history is commemorated everyday.

White history gets too much time you're right- and I'm white saying this. There shouldn't be just a MONTH for minorities it should be thoroughly mixed in ALL OF THE TIME. I'm a college sr and agree about the papers comment.

i think of its simply by fact right away the default race is white. each thing is pointed white-its the known norm. it does seem somewhat unfair and can be considered as racist having hispanic historic previous month and black historic previous month, yet we are residing in a rustic the place being a minority is a handicap and an automated mark against you in existence-even although we are able to all deny it, this is in some way/shape/style. i dont think of that having one month out of the twelve months the place we are able to concentration on the achievements of the underdogs truly hurts. the persons truly working this u . s . are white. the least they'd do is supply minorities some acknowledgement sometimes. i think of that, purely like mothers day and valentines day, those minority months are crocks of ****-there would desire to be wisdom twelve months around, yet individuals are too self-in touch to maintain consistent mindfulness of others. so we smash it down into small time frames like secretarys day and aids wisdom month. meh. we suck as people.

In response to a previous comment, May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. Sept 15 to Oct 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. I don't know of a Native American history month, but I'm sure there is one.

First no one cares about the history of whites! I'd rather learn the history of the minorities.

I truly believe that everything is done in the United States to ensure all people have equal participation in all areas of culture. The ones who keep insisting that they feel excluded are searching for more than equality.

Face it: Any important black person is taught about right alongside the white people. The only reason there's a 'black history month' is the same reason as women's events in the olmypics: women just can't compete with men in sports, and black people just can't compete with white people in history.
Or did you think discovering a hundred uses for a peanut was the same kind of achievement as discovering penicillin?

Bigotry has no color, black, white, or any shade between. The trouble with it is that the Bigot fails to see he/she is a bigot.
