I cannot take the pill, or anything that contains estrogen or other hormones ( i.e. progesterone ), it causes liver tumors, I have already had undergone two surgeries to remove them! It is a VERY RARE condition! No pill, I.U.D., depo, patch, and would prefer to not have any permanent form of birth control, as we would like to have children in a few years. After which, we will resort to a permanent form of birth control. I am engaged and both myself and my fiancee are STD FREE! We would like to have at least one day per month to enjoy sex without a condom. I would prefer answers from doctors or health care professions please! Thank you for your time!

artificial insemination as well as the morning after pill are not possibilities as they both require large doses of estrogen that will lead to liver tumors again! Pregnancy may also do this, however my surgeon is looking into if I can safely have a baby. If not, then we will opt for permanent birth control. I am pretty conflicted as we chanced it by having sex unprotected one day after my period. I am not supposed to even think about having a pregnancy for at least a year to regenerate my liver as they removed 1/2 of it in August. After that, I may safely be able to have a pregnancy, but in all likelyhood a pregnancy with a tumor. It will be the delivery room, then the operating room to remove the tumor.

Honestly... nobody can tell you when you can have sex without a condom, because even people who are on birthcontrol do get pregnant. ANd the ovulation prediction everyone is telling you is based on AVERAGE. Some women do ovulate while on their periods, or right before or right after. Basically either way:

Unprotected sex= pregnancy.

There are other options though. Where ever you buy condoms you can also buy spermicide strips for you. Not to sound gross but it's a little strip you put inside your vagina right before sex and its full of spermicide. There's also foam and such. Or you can take the Plan B pill if you ever get really worried. Its the morning after pill and I think it's 98% effective... not sure on the percentage.... I wouldnt use that everytime because that can cause damage. Only use it if you really need to. So if ya use the strips or the foam you are more than likely able to have sex without a condom. Have fun!

Use an ovulation predictor kit (works like an hpt) for a couple months to watch your cycles and make sure you ovulate at the same time every month. Write it on a calendar. There are really only 7 days a month that you can get pregnant (5 for the sperm to live inside you, then two that your egg is viable). but it differs from woman to woman and even from month to month, which is why there is no standard "safe" time. You will just have to familiarize yourself with your own unique cycle, and with care and planning you will probably find that you an safely ditch the condom for at least two weeks a month. it's called natural family planning. HOWEVER...I DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT recommend this to teenagers in high school as a birth control method...this is only for this person who seems to be mature and responsible enough to do this, and also old enough to have her schedules regulated.

I'm no doctor, but I have read a bit about this.

The first week after your period is the safest bet, but you never have any guarantee. Women typically ovulate 1 week before their period begins. Sperm can survive typically for up to 3-6 days inside a woman. The egg lasts for around 24-48 hours max after ovulation, and if the sperm is present during that time pregnancy can occur.

I would also recommend reading up on taking your basal temperature to figure out your time of ovulation. There is also a method known as the calendar method that might be useful in predicting a safer time for unprotected sex.

You would have to know your peak fertility days and your ovulation so you won't get pregnant. But what you can use if you can is a sperimcide, preferably a vaginal suppository. You insert it like 15 mins before sex, now you could use it by itself but of course it will be more effective with a condom. But I used one called Encare with my baby's father for 2 years before I got pregnant and it worked, and also he should try not to come inside as well, but withdrawing is russian roulette as well. Really everyday is fair game but if you can, use a suppository and it creates a lot of "moisture" and helps out sexual activity... What do you have to lose?

The options I would suggest are having him store his sperm and having the big V or checking out "natural family planning" online. There are many sites that go into the specifics of NFP. You could also try spermacide or "the sponge" though these are less effective (my ex and his sister were born when their mother was on these methods, respectively).

Immediately after your period, and at least a day after you ovulate. Check out www.webwomb.com for several different methods of charting fertility. It will help you know when you can have unprotected sex and not get pregnant, and later when you're ready for kids, the same information will help you know when to have baby-making sex.

I'm not a DR but I have asked my OB this question. He says after your period. I personally dont like having intercourse with a condom and I cannot take the pill. Check with your OB and see what they tell you.

It would be immediately after your period...but there's always a risk.

why don't you look into a cervical cap or a diaphragm?
