the doctor said he does have colic but he also said colic just means they don't know whats wrong. I also give him the gas drops 2-3 times a day but for the most part they don't work. where do you buy gripe water and what is it?

Your baby may have colic- a condition where baby cries for 2-3 hours a day for no reason. My baby is quite fussy (squirms, grunts, cries) after feedings, but only until he gets rid of the air in his stomach (sometimes this takes half an hour or so). I would try keeping your baby upright for 30 minutes after feedings, and also try infant massage (making small circles on either side of the stomach and/or back). Good luck !

CATNIP?!

Isn't that the crazy herb that makes cats go nuts. No, definately wouldn't give that to a baby.

My neice is and was a colicky baby. Try mylacon drops or gripe water. It eases their bellies. Some babies just have a tougher time adjusting to life outside of the womb. My best advice is to find a sling it works like a charm. I'd just put my little guy in it and walk around the house if it was nasty outside. If it was nice we'd go for a walk.

The sling supports the baby and it's not resting on your back. So, your back and shoulders don't hurt or get sore. And, your baby will learn to trust you and bond. Meaning, he'll cry less often because he's comfy in this new environment.

My son was so colicky in the beginning I thought I'd never make it. I was sure I'd go mental from all the crying. The best advice I got was from Dr. Sears about baby wearing. I know he's outlandish sometimes, but his advice worked. My son was worse than my niece but he got better and adjusted really well after about two weeks in the sling. And, he started sleeping through the night while breastfed at six weeks.

You can even google or ebay "sling" "baby sling".

Good Luck!

I just read your addtional comments so I erased what I wrote. This might help.

I breast fed my 2 children, but my first one was horrible. I tried the last feeding of the day with soy (for daddy & son bonding) & he would projectile vomit, so that didn't last.
For the first 3 months he was up 2 hours, ate & was fussy; down 2 hours, 'round the clock. He became a better baby as he got older but I thought I would go nuts. Don't let it get to that point. Ask for help!
He was a good baby by the time he started crawling but he didn't sleep through the night until he was 15 months old!
He's now a daddy.

talk to your doctor before you use any herbs or combinations of such.... you could do more damage than you realize. If the problem persists you may have to change the formula (that's why breast milk is better) - but talk with your pediatrician.

I also don't know the age of your child but if it's an infant you just have realize that fussiness come with the territory. Sooner or later they adjust (usually after the third month) and things get better. So, hang in there!

good luck!
