The Dixie Chicks completed a defiant comeback on Sunday night, winning five Grammy awards after being shunned by the country music establishment over the group's anti-Bush comments leading up to the Iraq invasion. Now the country knows they ( Dixie Chicks ) were correct.

The reason a previous answerer hasn't heard The Dixie Chicks on the radio is that they've been blacklisted by some music stations, and others have bowed to threats by sponsors and listeners. Why would the Grammy voters have had any reason to support The Dixie Chicks, which is still regarded as a country group by most in the industry, over others nominated in the various categories? Isn't it at least possible that people whose political opinions differ from yours are still capable of creating good music? Or is that beyond your comprehension?

I'm old enough to remember when there was political reaction against Cat Stevens (Yusaf Islam). Thankfully, we still have his music and he is once more producing popular tunes. Heck, I'm old enough to remember when the Beatles' albums were crushed and burned for their statements and political stances. And it stretches on before them.

The bottom line is that too many Americans are too little committed to the RIGHT of free speech. Who said, "I may disagree with what you have said, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it?" There's too little of that spirit in the U.S. today. Instead, you hear : "It's my way or the highway." And what that means is that, at least to a small extent, the terrorists accomplished at least a small part of what they intended.

I don't even like the Dixie Chicks that much. But congratulations to them on a night to remember.

First; Hey RIGHT WING, would you mind if I called the FBI or Homeland Security and told them I overheard you sympathizing with our enemy and engaging in schemes of connecting Al Qaeda members with Americans who might help them further their agenda of attacks to the U.S.? If they decided to tap your phones and scan your computer and totally invade your life and arrest and detain you to find out how involved you were in this what would be your recourse? With the treasonous (anti-constitution) Patriot Act ......YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE!!!!!! How many people has this already happened to? If it's just 1...... it can be ANY American!!! This HAS already happened!!! To the Questioner: I don't find it 'poetic justice' I find it evil and disheartening in the rule of law and the strength of our constitution!!! We are becoming a country that our founding fathers warned us about!!!! EDIT: I also want to add that this isn't just the 'neocons', by the way. This phrase was adopted as a tool so that all of the people who are involved in this New World Order (Republicans and Democrats alike) can say no not me...it was the neocons! Convenient, ...eh!

The Dixie Chicks, just like everyone else, are entitled to say anything they feel. This is called freedom of speech. But because of the fact that they are celebs, they are scrutinized more than 'normal' people. I think that it's great they won all those awards tonight, and it just goes to show that not everyone judges based on a bad comment or anything to that effect. The comment's they have made should not reflect on their status as artists and preformers, and they deserve just as much credit and accolades as any other winner.

The Grammys are about music not politics.

The Grammy's are not up for vote by the American people. Country fans, being very patriotic, still do not like the Dixie Chicks. The music industry, being mostly liberal, does.

Just like anything else - some people are music lovers . Some people don't know jack . DC got lucky . Some people worship the devil. Both mean nothing to me . I don't have to watch or hear them .

the grammys don't mean diddley, its air play and record sales that make record labels money and concert appearance that make artist money. I can not remember the last time I heard a dixie chick song on the radio or any promotional material for any of their concerts. too many so called celebrities like the dixie chicks, alex baldwin, sean penn and others think that america really gives a rats behind about their opinions
