Depression is a state of the mind, when you feel all alone and lost a sense of being worthless. Yes i was helped when i was at the lowest ebb of my life by sane advice from friends and family.
Advice is one aspect what you need most is to stay positive and believe in yourself and be grateful for all the love and care that your family and close friends have for you. Remember you are you a person with hidden talents use your inner reserves of energy and stay positive you will come out of depression.

Yeah, but I do look at it that way. I'm always happy to pull myself out of my head and remember that I'm not the only one with problems. I throw all my energy into helping whoever else out any way I can and by helping them I've cured my own depressive state. Isn't that what your supposed to do when you love someone- push your crap aside so you can help them. I would never be like "sorry I've got my own stuff going on".

I tried my best. A friend of mine tried to commit suicide at the same time that I found out that my boyfriend was going to be stationed in Florida which meant a move for us. I was upset but I tried my best to encourage her to feel better. It was hard because I didn't dare tell her that he was going to be stationed in Florida.

It actually helps your own depression. That's actually a good form of therapy for depression.

Definitely! I'm always encouraging my children even if I don't feel too positive myself. But it helps me forget about my junk at the same time it makes them feel good. Then that makes me feel good! :)

its really hard.
but sometimes u have to set ur own feelings and personal problems aside to help someone u care about,
because they may not have anyone else in their life that can listen to them and give encouragement.

yes! i work in aged care so my ppl are always a bit down and if i am happy for them they seem to pep up a bit.. i just think to myself, " they need this, they get so much joy out of seeing me so that in itself fix's my mood... i also have a friend with bipolar and she needs me more than i need to dwell on my s**t so its about weighing up the issues.
