Vancouver Bc is like most other major cities, kind of hard to say exactly where it begins and ends because all the surrounding suburbs merge into it. People talk about 'Greater Vancouver' and 'Central Vancouver', the 'Downtown Core' etc.

Traffic can be bad, so the crosstown trip length will depend a LOT on time of day. Also, it makes a big difference if you are going north to south, east to west, or diagonally.

Off the top of my head, I'd say on average you are looking at about a one hour drive, but that could vary between 30 minutes (downtown to Richmond, no traffic) to 2 hours (same with traffic).

Not that big. About 600,000 in the city and 2.2 million including the suburbs. It's actually quite built up, yet rugged at the same time. You can have high-rise buildings and forest side by side.

Depends on which way you are going. Try going to mapquest or AAA/CAA and plugging in the cities. It will give you distance and time. Don't forget there are mountains--the roads can be quite steep and winding, and you may occasionally encounter animals on them.

this is a Mapquest question. you need to go there on the web so you can see yourself.
Also, are you talking about British Columbia or Washington?
