It all depends on were on Earth you are.
If you are near a city: Very few
If you out in the country: More than you can count (yes, even more then 2000 in some places)
I for one have been to the sparsely populated Big Bend area of Texas. At night the sky is literally lit-up with the sheer brilliance of the stars. You can see the Milky Way quite clearly and I am sure if you counted the stars you would arrive at a number greater than 2000. That is if you don't lose track of the ones you have already counted and give up such a futile pursuit. The experience of seeing so many stars at once is AWESOME and leaves you temporarily speechless. You come away feeling very, very small. I highly suggest you go somewhere you can experience something similar. It need not be far. Just drive an hour, hour and a half away from the city lights, stop the car and look up. You wont regret it!

Do you mean how many stars you can see at once or how many at all the times put together? Less than half the stars can be seen at any one time (due to the world underneath and atmospheric extinction)
They say 2000 (at once), most people see much less due to light pollution, (only a few dozen), and a few people with good vision and transparent skies can see over 5000 stars at one time.
Note that this is not possible anywhere in the Eastern United States and almost all of the West. The area of unspoiled sky is very small indeed. http://www.lightpollution.it/worldatlas/pages/fig2.htm

Ask him how ought to the Mayans have 'shown' 9/11 would take position in view that he believes it turned right into a "hoax". If Planet X become going to slam into the earth then it may well be seen in the sky. oftentimes i'm afraid you would ought to push aside him, tell him if he won't be able to respect your concept that the international gained't end, that you isn't waiting to envision with him until eventually eventually Dec. 22.!!
