i'm really interested in drawing manga and i hope to have my own manga series someday.but most people tell me that its wise to learn to draw "real life" first. so. i was wondering what kind of art courses[e.g. human anatomy], websites, books, etc that would help me out. thanks :]

If you are in high school, take art classes. If you are college age, take what art courses are offered in basic drawing, drawing the figure, color theory, and actually all art classes will teach you something that will help you.
If you are looking for private lessons, you will probably pay more, and the style of the teacher may be part of what they teach, so be sure you like their style.
Also, learn about the different media and computer graphics programs too. You will need to have some idea of how all of them work. You will certainly use computers at some point.
Good luck! If it is your dream, chase it down and catch it!

I'm going to assume that you are in the public education system. Take every art class you can. Talk to your art teachers. They may know someone for private lessons. If you have a college close by check with their art department to see if they have any students willing to give private lessons. These few steps seem the most logical. I do agree that the traditional approach would be the most beneficial. The next step after this would be a figure drawing class. You may have to enroll in college to get this however. Good luck to you.

art is so profoundly labor intensive to deliver to get paid for, go slowly at it as many artist are not correctly achieving levels of safety nets to survive the hard times of learning, Edison screwed in his light bulb eight hundred times before the rights combinations made the first light work, art is just as hard as inventing, because it actually is inventing terms of endearment within u and the long goals are not as achievable if failure is an emotional obstacle, it is not the art u need to practice as it is the fact that art is a way of life to be lived, most are too sensitive to discouraging pitfalls, so laying a foundation to your desires is the win of the battle and it will determine the scope of your talents
