Best Hockey Socks

I've always used a traditional garter belt, but I play with quite a few people that use the built-in-jock shorts with velcro tabs, and everyone that uses them seems to love them.

I guess it depends on your personal comfort. I've tried taping and tying, but neither was very comfortable for me and I found that the tape/ties felt constricting. Any looser and they didnt hold the socks in place. As a female player I dont bother to wear a cup/jill, so the shorts seemed like a bit of a waste.

Garters are the traditional way to keep them up, when the button wears out, 2 pennies replace them
The newer Jock/Cups have Velcro sewn on the bottom of each leg, if you sew the other half of the Velcro onto the top of your sox, the sox will stay up fairly well
A lot of people use tape, but it never really worked well for me
By the end of the first period, they were down on my shin guards

I do something I've never seen anybody else do: I tuck the top of my socks into my shin pads. I get a small amount of air conditioning, I never have to throw away tape after a game, I have less stuff to wear (garter belt/velcro shorts), and I don't have to take time to tie a shoelace around my leg.

Like sly mentioned, the garter belt is the most preferred, but you can also use hockey tape to keep them up by taping around the middle of your upper leg.

Just use clear hockey tape so no one can tell your using it. Put it around your knee just below the knee cap and your socks should stay up. It works for me and i know that's what a lot of pros do.

Maybe not THE best way, but I like it and it's cheap and you never run out of tape in the locker room. Shoe laces or old skate laces cut shorter. Just tie them at top of your sock. Works Great and I'm always prepared.

Almost everyone I know (guys and girls) wears the itech Jock (Jill for women) shorts with velcro on the legs. They hold your cup and hold up your socks, and come in loose or spandex.
