Well with Kei Igawa and Carl Pavano holding down two spots, it could be a huge problem. Also, Mike Mussina and Andy Pettitte aren't getting any younger. Still, they will be a good team.

No, I think that they will hold their own. Wang 2 years ago came up from the farm league and has proven himself to be a winner. Mussina still has a lot to offer and Andy has proven that he can win in NY time and time again. The 2 big question marks, as pointed out are Pavano and Igawa. It is my hope that something will be done about Pavano and he will not even throw a single pitch in a Yankee uniform this coming season. Igawa, only time will tell. Look for Phillip Hughes to be brought up in case of an emergency. Hopefully he won't need to be, but with all of the off season acquisitions to the minors the Yankees will have some strength, even if the need to deal comes up.
As far as offense, what's to say, every single player from the batting order 1-9 is of All-Star caliber. It should be a pretty good season.

No, I think their rotation will be solid. Wang, Mussina, and Pettitte will all win 15-18 games easily, which is a great start. Igawa and Pavano are the wild cards, if one of them is decent it will be great. Phil Hughes has a chance to make the Yankees at age 20 out of spring training, and is the best pitching prospect in the minors. If either Igawa or Pavano struggles, Hughes will be up. Also, Sanchez, the best pitcher they got from Detroit for Sheffield has a chance. The rotation will be much better than it has in years.

The Yankees pitching got better just by getting rid of Johnson and Wright. Those guys killed the bullpen, and the pitching staff as a whole is better with them gone. I am not worried about the pitching, it's going to be a great year.

Why would they? Their rotation was downright awful last year and they still got by. It's at least as good as it was then- they replaced Johnson with Petitte, which is a trade I'd make in a second if I were them. Wang and Moose are still around, and Pavano might be able to actually make a start for once.

I mean, the rotation will still be a deciding factor for the Yankees season and postseason- and it might be why they falter in the playoffs. But honestly, in regular season, the Yanks are more likely to falter if the Red Sox rotation plays up to its potential. If Matsuzaka and Beckett flop, it should be an easy ride to the division for them. If only one top Sox starter flops, then we'll have a race on our hands.

They said that last year. I think we became better with the off season pickup's and trades. Brining back Andy Pettite will help because he's a lefty and he knows Yankee Stadium. Randy Johnson never seemed comfortable in the Stadium. The youngsters we got for Johnson and Sheffield will help as well. Sanchez could be a starter depending what they do with Pavano. Philip Hughes is waiting to get a chance and it might be this year. Igawa will do well with the Yankees and maybe better than his countryman on the Bosox.

i imagine acceptance would have somewhat to do with it. Wang become for sure the perfect pitcher for the Yankees in 2006 and nonetheless isnt considered the ace of the team, and there is also a lot doubt that he will pitch on starting day. notwithstanding i imagine it truly is going to be: Wang Mussina Pettitte Pavano (if healthful) Igawa How solid do those first 3 names seem up there. i imagine they can take out the international sequence on '07. If Clemens comes lower back, i imagine there opportunities will enhance lots until eventually for some reason he loses his dominance this low season by some skill.

A Yankees "falter" will still probably land them in the post season! Based on overall talent alone, I don't see how they could ever not make the playoffs. It definitely isn't their best staff ever, but they are still good for 90+ wins at least I would think.
