No - they lose credibility every time I see old veteran acts get nominated just for putting out music - i.e. Tony Bennett, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles (after he died and the wave of "Ray" kicked in, he won for Album of the Year for an album critics said was definitely not his best work), Paul McCartney...and the list goes on..

These girls clawed their way against adversity when they could have skulked away into obscurity. Actually, if you listen to the lyrics, the song IS NOT about the President, but the death threats and violent backlash from the public over a flippant, ill-timed comment that the media exploited to the fullest.

It was a message about coping with the anger on the journey to forgiveness. Other musicians supported them because they understand the role the media plays in these matters.

And the underdogs won. Bravo!

And not to dis James Blunt, but I am really done with that song.

The only downside is that The Red Hot Chili Peppers didn't win.

I have to admit I used to bash the Dixie Chicks too; I still do, to an extent, but not for bashing Bush; some people seem to think that bashing the man in the Oval Office is equivalent to bashing the country, but that's not true. It's BECAUSE I love my country and because he seems to be doing what he can to run it into the ground that I MUST speak against Bush. He has done more as a Republican to undermine the conservative base that used to make the party up, than any HUNDRED ultraliberals could have done. That being said, the reason I bash the Dixie Chicks is the same reason I bash many so-called "country" artists these days. They have sold out and gone pop and forgotten what country is really about: simplicity.

After All the Crap the Chicks and their fans went thru, this is 110% Vindication for all of us!!! When the Bandwagon fans, Nashville, and the Industry turned their backs on them and us, The Real True Fans. The Real True Fans kept on Supporting them!!! Anybody who is a Real True Fan of theirs is Smiling from Ear to Ear. This makes My Year!!! I went to their Concert in November in Phoenix, it was smaller in scale compared to their last tour when they were Huge, but it was Great to see The Real True Fans come together and support the Chicks!!! So Natalie has every right to do what she did at the Grammys, She could have been Nastier, but it was Great that She did it the way She did it by saying, "Well, to quote the great 'Simpsons' — 'Heh-Heh.' So "Heh Heh" to all those people who turned their backs on the Chicks!!!

Everyone predicted the Dixie Chicks would win, but not because of any songs. It was their anti-American views.

Same reason Al Gore will win an oscar for that ridiculous bunch of lies he made into a movie.

Blame the US for everything and you'll win all sorts of awards. How do you think Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize?

Most award shows have been converted into political tools and no longer have any credibility. I think it's been this way for the last 10 or 12 years. What a shame.

They seemed to be making an anti-Country statement by giving the Dixie Chicks the award for Country album.

In a be conscious, confident. "maximum suitable participant on the main suitable group" is what seems the simple subject around the league. the reason it us needless to say tainted...steve nash gained it back to back....glance by using historic previous and look on the only gamers who've accomplished that...NASH would not belong in that catagory. he will now be seen for the corridor of recognition with a merely avg occupation....what 3 good yrs and he's now a god? Kobe Bryant truthfully deserved it final year, or maybe this year...the guy is merely superb. Dirk is arguably a good decision, placed up season aside...yet for my section, the main suitable participant in the league on an excellent group merits it, somebody who has accomplished something specific for the time of the year....dirk...infrequently did something this year, get rid of dirk from the mavs, and that they nevertheless win 40 5-50 video games....nash, has 2 different ALL STARS, 6th guy of the year, and the league chief in 3ptm....infrequently honest.... kobe has accomplished something superb, each and all the final 3 yrs, issues that havent been accomplished by using jordan, and issues that werent accomplished on the grounds that chaimberlain....needless to say im somewhat bias, yet all suggested and accomplished, i think the mvp is greater beneficial than the main suitable participant on the main suitable group

I agree with you 100%, the Dixie Chicks shouldn't have won over more deserving artists especially considering how they performed tonight. I think they won the most awards because so many people in America are realizing that they don't agree with the war or George Bush.

Yes, I asked the question in politics whether or not the DC received their grammys fairly. After all, their sales are way down and the music industry is steeped in liberalism. I wonder if their grammys weren't more about politics than talent. I also wonder how long the liberals will continue to hold them up while their fan base has largely deserted them. Just a thought.

Yes, I completely agree with you. It's just a political statement. Even Natalie Maines (singer of the Dixie Chicks) said that she thought everyone was using their freedom of speech in voting for them to win all these awards. It was not fair to the other artists. The Grammy's should be only about music, not politics.
